Multifactor Authentication (MFA-DUO)

In summer and fall of 2015, Yale introduced an additional security measure to protect your intellectual property, your personal information, and Yale's data. Called Multifactor Authentication, this measure will add a step to the log-in process you use to access Yale's network and resources. Multifactor Authentication will require a user, after entering a NetID and password, to prove his or her identity by responding to a prompt on a mobile device or landline, tablet or token. Universities and colleges across the country increasingly are adopting this technology, which commonly is used by financial institutions to verify online users' identities.

Who can use it?

All Yale faculty, students, and staff who use a NetID and password to access Yale's network and resources using CAS or YaleConnect off campus, or VPN from anywhere will be required to use Multifactor Authentication.

How much does it cost?

The service is free.

How do I get it?

Enrollment in MFA will be initiated via an email to you or upon entry into a protected resource. You will find video tutorials, as well as instructions for enrolling and registering your device, and how to use Duo authentication here.
