Antivirus Service

Antivirus is protective software designed to defend your computer against malicious software. Malicious software, or "malware" includes: viruses, trojans, key loggers, hijackers, dialers, and other code that vandalizes or steals your computer contents. Software automatically scans your computer to detect and remove viruses, spyware, and security risks. It also cleans downloaded files or email attachments and attempts to repair the effects of any viruses that were found. It delivers continuous protection via fast, unobtrusive scanning and automatic virus definition updates.

Who can use it?

Antivirus protection software is available for use on any Yale-owned computer.

How much does it cost?

  • Antivirus software is free to all faculty, staff, and students enrolled in degree-granting programs of the University.

How do I get it?

Available for download from the ITS Software Library.

Yale-Owned Computers:

All University-owned computers must have the ITS standard, supported antivirus protection solution installed. 

Personally-Owned Computers:

ITS recommends the use of antivirus software on all personally-owned computers. For personally-owned computers only, Trend Micro Antivirus is available from the ITS Software Library.

Where can I get help?

Support will be provided under your current support agreement.
