Yale Television Services

Yale University provides streaming IPTV services from Comcast to eligible students. The service provides 100 channels of content, including HBO Go, which can be accessed on up to three personal internet-enabled devices. If additional channel content is desired, users can create a personal account directly with Comcast at their own discretion to purchase additional channels.  Check this channel guide to see the Yale University channel line-up.

Who can use it?

IPTV is available to all Masters, Deans, Fellows, undergraduate and graduate students living on campus. The service is accessible on up to three personal internet enabled devices.  Applications that stream content to certain mobile devices are available in iOS and Android app stores.

How much does it cost?

This service is included in the technology fee for all undergraduate students. For residents of the graduate dorms, this service is included in rental costs.

How do I get it?

To watch IPTV desktop computers and laptops

  1. Go to http://yale.edu/IPTV in your browser.
  2. Click on the "Sign In" button.
  3. Click on "XFINITY On Campus Student Sign in Here" button.
  4. Select Yale University from the list of institutions.
  5. A CAS login page should appear and then enter in your NetID credentials.
  6. Upon acceptance of your credentials, the application will then register the device to your account.

To watch IPTV on an iOS or Android device

  1. Download the Xfinity TV application from your device's app store.
  2. Launch the application and click on "XFINITY On Campus Student Sign in Here" button.
  3. Select Yale University from the list of institutions.
  4. A CAS login page should appear and then enter in your NetID credentials.
  5. Upon acceptance of your credentials, the application will then register the device to your account.

To watch IPTV off campus

A limited number of channels can be viewed while off campus. Refer to the off-campus channel guide for a list of available channels.

  1. Download the application specific to the channel you wish to watch.  (HBO Go, Xfinity TV, etc)  They will have instructions on their application page for binding the application to your device.
  2. Upon reaching their web page for activation, select Comcast Xfinity from the provider list.
  3. Click on the link under the ‘Xfinity on Campus’ section, it is usually near the bottom of the page.
  4. Select Yale University from the list of institutions and the CAS logon page should display.
  5. Log in with your NetID and password.  Be prepared that Duo may ask you for a two factor log on to approve the connection.
  6. Follow the instructions from the application binding page. Some applications will likely have you create an account for their service and there may or may not be an activation code to enter in as well.
