Yale Audio and Video Conferencing - Zoom

Yale audio video conferencing is an on-demand, audio and video conference service that is available 24/7. Access for both the host and participants is available via a local Yale number, as well as via the Zoom application.

PARTICIPANT INSTRUCTIONS (PROVIDE TO PARTICIPANTS):

Attending by telephone

  1. Dial 2-ZOOM
  2. Enter Meeting ID (MeetingID)

Attending by computer or mobile device

  1. Start the ZOOM application
  2. Click "Join a meeting"
  3. Enter the MeetingID number and enter your name.

Who can use it?

Members of the Yale community with an active Yale NetID are eligible to use this service.

How much does it cost?

The cost for using this service is included in the Telecommunications Infrastructure Bundle. The money comes from the FTE fund, not the telecom fund.

How do I get it?

  1. To get started, visit https://yale.zoom.us
  2. Click Sign In button <configure your account>
  3. Enter NetID and Password
  4. Download and Install ZOOM Client for meetings
  5. Edit your profile and customize your personal meeting ID
    Dial in 2-ZOOM or 203-432-9666 to collaborate with anyone, anywhere.

    Once the ZOOM application is installed on your computer, you may host meetings from https://yale.zoom.us

    When the application launches please sign in using the following button:

  6. To get additional add-on licenses open a ticket with the Yale Audio and Video Conferencing team.

How do I find my MeetingID?

  • The MeetingID is included in the Zoom meeting invitation.  It can also be viewed from the meeting itself.
  • For PC: your meeting ID is displayed on the left top of your video panel.  If you are in full screen mode, press Esc to see the meeting ID. 
  • For Mac: your meeting ID is displayed on the middle top of your video panel.  If you are in full screen mode, press Esc to see the meeting ID. 
  • For iPad and iPhone, please tap on the screen to display the meeting ID
  • Note: If you click on Invite, you will see the Invitation URL: zoom.us/j/123456789  - the numbers (9 digits) shown is your video meeting ID. 

Can Zoom be used for Toll Free International Audio Conferencing?

  • No. However, there are International numbers available if requested in advance. The International Caller should be advised that their billing rates are determined by their phone service provider.

Does this service require special hardware?

  • No, but you can use a multitude of hardware if you wish. Attending or hosting a Zoom conference is accomplished by making a phone call for audio conferences, or using the desktop or mobile apps for video conferences. Hosts can use any iPhone or Android device with a front-facing camera as well as any Windows, Mac, or (most) Linux systems with a webcam to host a meeting. Codec devices throughout the campus are also registered to be used with Zoom. Attendees can accomplish everything through the desktop or mobile apps.
