Yale Share (MS SharePoint)

ITS YaleShare is a web-based collaborative work space for departments and teams to share information. It uses Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, which will run on most web browsers and on Macs. Typical users share and collaborate on documents, use calendars and discussion boards, share announcements and links, and manage meeting agendas and task lists.  SharePoint integrates well with Microsoft Office.

Who can use it?

Faculty and staff actively working at Yale University with valid Yale NetIDs are eligible.

VPN is not required.

How much does it cost?

There are no associated costs with the offering.

How do I get it?

To provision a new site:

  • Contact the ITS Help Desk or open a ticket through ServiceNow.
  • Please include the following information with your request:
    • The name of the site (e.g. ITS For Your Information Site)
    • The shortened name for the URL (e.g. sites/ITSFYI)
    • The size of the site (We recommend 2 gigabytes; more space is available upon request)
    • The primary administrator for the site (name and email address)

Request for additional storage:

  • Contact the ITS Help Desk or open a ticket through ServiceNow.
  • Please specify the amount of storage you require.

Request for site cancelations:

  • Contact the ITS Help Desk or open a ticket through ServiceNow.

    All data will be deleted and can not be recovered. Archive is not an option for this cloud-based service; we recommend to that any data that may be needed in the future is backed up locally and saved to a secured shared drive or optical media.
