Yale ITS added additional protection to the YaleSecure, Yale VPN, and the campus wired networks on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 to help guard against malicious activity on the Yale networks. These new network capabilities include antivirus protection, anti-malware, anti-spyware, and URL filtering of known phishing and malware websites.
Yale is now blocking the types of websites listed below. If a client tries to visit a website hosting known malicious content, he will receive a message that he is not able to access the site for security reasons.
·phishing and fraudulent websites
·malicious malware and spyware websites
·websites categorized as bot-nets
·some advertising banners/graphics
Settings for the network servers are centrally managed, apply to all browsers, and do not require any desktop configuration.
If you believe a site has been misclassified, a request to have it reclassified may be made on this site (http://urlfiltering.paloaltonetworks.com/testasite.aspx) as well. PAN DB will evaluate the request and respond to the requestor with the status of the request via email.
