ITS recommends that everyone have at least 2 options setup for multifactor authentication; there is no limit to the number of eligible devices you may add to your MFA account. You have the option to define which device is the default, set a device to automatically call or send a push, and to rename devices.
If you already have at least one device setup with DUO:
On the next screen, click the ‘My Settings & Devices’ option:
You will be prompted to authenticate through DUO using one of your already enrolled devices.
To change the default device:
After completing the above steps, use the drop down menu to select the device you would like to be the default
To set a device to automatically send a push or generate a verification phone call:
After completing the above steps, use the drop down menu to select the preferred option.
If you experience difficulty authenticating through DUO due to an unavailable cellular, text, or data plan, you should disable the automatic methods and select the option ‘Ask me to choose an authentication method’. The passcode option does not require a cellular, text, or data plan and may be a better option for some.
To change the name of a device:
After completing the above steps, select the ‘Device Options’ button next to the device you wish to rename.
Select ‘Change Device Name’
