'Hold for Authentication' error when printing to a PaperCut print queue from a Mac
After setting up an 'Windows Printer via SpoolSS' (SMB) connection to a PaperCut print queue
You attempt to send a print job and are prompted for your network credentials to connect to the shared printer.
If you enter the wrong password and store the credentials you will continue to see a 'Hold for Authentication' state on the print job in the Mac print queue and no jobs will be forwarded to the print queue with no indication that the password you provided was wrong.
If this occurs you will need to delete the Mac keychain entry associated to the printer and server.
To do this go to the Utilities folder and open Keychain Access.
Look for the entries associated to the printer name
Highlight the entries, control click, and select delete.
Re-initiate a print job to the printer and enter the correct password when prompted.
