Yale ITS has protection on the YaleSecure wireless network, Yale VPN, and the campus wired networks to help guard against malicious activity. These network capabilities include antivirus protection, anti-malware, anti-spyware, and URL filtering of known phishing and malware websites.
Yale blocks the types of websites listed below. If you attempt to visit a website hosting known malicious content, you will receive a message that you are not able to access the site for security reasons.
phishing and fraudulent websites
malicious malware and spyware websites
websites categorized as bot-nets
some advertising banners/graphics
Settings for the network servers are centrally managed, and do not require any desktop configuration.
If you believe a site has been misclassified, make a request to have it reclassified on this site (http://urlfiltering.paloaltonetworks.com/testasite.aspx). This will direct your request to the vendor, PaloAlto. The request will be evaluated and a response sent to the requester with the status of the request via email.
