Step 2: Enable IMAP Access (only required once per account)
NOTE: You must perform this step or the following instructions will not work.
If you haven't already done so, enable IMAP access for your EliApps Mail account.
When downloading a large number of messages, such as when you are first setting up a device to access your EliApps mail, you may receive an error similar to 'Account Exceeded Bandwidth Limits', or your device may be unable to access new mail for a period of time, usually up to 1 day. This is a result of Google's policy limiting the amount of mail data that you may transfer in a given time period.
Enter the following information information: Full Name: Your name as you would like it to appear when you send mail. Email Address: Your primary Yale email address. This is usually email@example.com. Password: Your EliApps password. This is separate from your NetID password.
When you're done, click Continue.
You will recieve a message stating that the "Account must be manually configured"
Step 5: Ignore Warning (may not appear)
You may receive a warning that Apple Mail was ..unable to login into the Exchange server....
If prompted, you will need to add a User name. Enter your email address, exactly as you entered it in the previous step.
Click Continue again, until you reach the next screen. You may have to click it twice.
Step 6: Enter Incoming (IMAP) Settings
Account Type: IMAP Description: This can be whatever you like, it's how you identify this account if you have more than one in Apple Mail. Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com User name: Your primary Yale email address (same as on previous screens). Password: Your EliApps password.
When finished, click Continue.
Step 7: Enter Outgoing (SMTP) Settings
SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com User Name: Your primary Yale email address, as before Password: Your EliApps password
Step 8: Adjust Settings for Drafts, Sent Mail, and Trash
Use the list on the left to select your EliApps account.
Select the Mailbox Behaviors tab, and select the following options: Store draft messages on the server: Unchecked Store sent messages on the server: Unchecked Store junk messages on the server: Checked Move deleted messages to the trash mailbox: Unchecked
When you close the Accounts window, make sure to select Save to save your changes.
