Mailing Lists and Targeted Messaging

Mailing lists provide an easy means of communication among groups of people. Instead of typing hundreds of addresses, you can simply type one, and all who are subscribed to the list will receive your message.

All lists are subject to the Yale University Information Technology Appropriate Use Policy. Potential owners and subscribers must read this policy. List ownership or subscription constitutes an agreement to abide by Yale University policy. Lists that are not maintained properly, or that breach the university Appropriate Use Policy may be suspended or closed.

EliList (Google Groups)

EliLists are Google Groups for EliApps. Messages sent to an EliList generate an email as well as a topic post on the page for that particular EliList.

Mailman List (Mailing Lists)

Mailman lists have a variety of features such as moderation and archiving, but are slightly more complicated to administer.

Panlist (Mailing List)

Pantheon lists ("panlists") lack many of the customization and security features that Mailman and EliLists offer. No new panlists are being created.

University Messaging Service

Office of Public Affairs and Communications provides a messaging service that supports large-scale email messaging to pre-defined, requester-provided, or ad-hoc lists for specific, identified audiences.
