The SMPO has developed training on a range of topics  including navigation and report building on the ServiceNow platform as well as quick guides and how-to’s on the ITSM processes in use at Yale.  We additionally offer ITIL training resources, including preparation for the ITIL Foundations Certification, through skillport.com. Service/Portfolio Governance

Service & Portfolio Executive Committee (SPEC)

The SPEC has collective accountability for the services provided by ITS.  This committee advocates for initiatives that improve the delivery of IT services, and provides leadership, oversight and operational coordination of the IT Service and Portfolio Lifecycles. The committee is composed of the John Barden, CIO ITS and the Sr. Leadership Team, and is staffed by the Directors of the Service Management and Project Management Office. The responsibilities of this committee include:

  • Service catalogue vision and strategy

  • Service portfolio performance visibility

  • Service portfolio cost visibility

  • Service catalogue changes

  • Portfolio performance visibility

  • Cross project/program delivery decisions

  • Escalation point for select high-risk service changes

Capital Project Management Group (CPMG)

The CPMG provides financial oversight for the Portfolio Project spend.  The responsibilities of this group include:

Facilitate transparency to financial status of portfolio and individual projects

Help ensure accountability at the Associate CIO level

Increase visibility to high cost and risk projects

Make portfolio level financial decisions

Empowered to withhold and/or adjust funding
