This document is intended to show the configuration of Outlook 2011 for a system that has had an existing identity or YaleConnect account removed with the intention of re-adding it.
Important information for first time installation of Office 2011
If this is a fresh install of Office 2011 and Outlook you will be prompted with the following screen once when running Outlook 2011 for the first time.
Click Make Outlook the default application for e-mail, calendar, and contacts.
Click Add Account.
Proceed to Step 3 in the Configuration section below.
On the Outlook Mac menu bar across the top of the screen click Tools -> Accounts… The accounts window will open.
Click the Exchange Account button.
Enter your Exchange account information window will appear. Fill in the following:
E-mail address:firstname.lastname@example.org Method: User Name and Password User name: yale\your netID Password: Your netID password Check Configure automatically box
Click Add Account button. Your account will auto-discover and the Accounts window will appear with your account information. Change Account description.
Click Advanced button.
In the Directory Service section change the server name. Leave all other defaults. Server: yu.yale.edu
Close the Accounts window by clicking the red x in the top left corner. The account may take sometime to sync with the server, wait until it is finished
Verify Outlook 2011 is has been patched to the latest version. On the Outlook Mac menu bar across the top of the screen click Help -> Check for Updates
